Wedding Photography
Which wedding photographer to use comes down to personal choice and who you feel comfortable with. Some seem stuck in the 'formal posed' mode. Others seem to go for a lot of black and white images; which seems to be a current trend. My own style is to try and capture the fun of the day. I always like to meet couples first if possible and can travel to meet prospective clients. However, I offer a free informal studio shoot to any couple booking and who want to come and visit me here in Dorset to discuss their wedding arrangements; especially as I live very close to the Larmer Tree venue.I now work with another photographer to offer a superior service. Please visit our specialist wedding site for Wedding photography in Dorset and Somerset for more information.
Whilst every couple almost certainly wants a few posed and group shots I'm more and more of the opinion that couples now want a much more relaxed style of wedding photography. It should be a fun record of the day rather than tired, posed shots that will only be pulled out of the drawer now and again!
Whether to have black and white (which is popular) isn't really an issue as digital images mean that the conversion can be done later giving you the best of both world's.
As you've probably discovered by now booking a wedding photographer can seem to be a very expensive business. Also, they may well try to persuade you to buy expensive albums and will only allow prints of photos to be bought from them.
I've now joined together with Paul Quayle an extensively published photographer to bring a fresh approach; in that we charge £995 for attending a wedding
(up to 9 hours - travel extra outside of the immediate area) and then prepare approximately 400 images for you to choose
from. These are also uploaded to your own online gallery for friends and relatives to view. We will also send you all the
images (cropped and adjusted for exposure etc) on CD at high resolution so that
you can use them as you wish; you can make copies for friends, they are yours
to do as you wish (other than publish commercially). We find that many 'young
people' these days are perfectly competent at putting together their own album
or DVD if they want. Prints, extra photoshop work, canvas prints, albums etc. are all priced separately and available if you want. However, there is absolutely no hard sell or requirement to buy anything further from us. Contact me should you wish to discuss your wedding photography.
We do all the photography ourselves; i.e. none of it is subcontracted out to someone else - which also happens sometimes.
Relatives can buy copies online via the web gallery if they want (particularly as this avoids you having to get involved in sending them copies of photos etc.) but they are not obliged to do so.
